In 2008, Geochron used solid Oregon Walnut to create the most aesthetically pleasing Geochron ever made: the Live Edge.  The wood species were selected by the buyer, then the clock was built around the wood case.  A truly bespoke time piece that was built to order.  

Geochron made five of them.  The line was discontinued when the woodworker and his wife retired, closing their shop in the forests of the Oregon Coastal Range.

Under the guidance of Geochron Mechanical’s shop in Colorado Springs in 2024, the Live Edge is available again as built-to-order clock.  As of May 2024, two Live Edge’s are available in Walnut, or Red Cedar (pictured).  Check out the wood samples below to select a species that will fit your decor!

Available in Geopolitical or Topographical Mapsets, and in almost any species of wood that’s available, the features of the Live Edge model were identical to the Original Kilburg or Boardroom. The map size is identical, it has a minute analog dial in the top right hand corner and the light pattern changes in accordance to the date. All Live Edge Series Geochrons included the LED Lighting System, and a Sunlit LED Analemma.
